The Department of Physics has continually been striving for
excellence in teaching and research and has established itself as one of
the reputed departments in the University. The spirit of innovation is
kept alive by the facultys' engagement in research that includes
frontier areas of theoretical and experimental Physics. At ANDC's
Physics Department, research has a concrete purpose. When our faculty
and students work, whether in library or laboratory, it is always with
an intention to make the world a better place, improve people's lives,
enhance understanding and ensure a better future. Students are taught
never to regard study as a duty, but as an enviable opportunity to
learn. With this spirit students are encouraged to strive for their own
personal joy and work towards the profit of the community which they are
later expected to belong. However research doesn't end with the
faculty. We encourage our undergraduate students of Honours as well as
B.Sc Programmes to perform original projects and dissertations,
participate in seminars, workshops, and colloquiums wherein they are
exposed to frontier areas of science and Physics in particular. Working
together closely with faculty members, students follow their individual
passions to places hitherto untraversed.
The laboratories are equipped with top-of-the-line computer interfaced 100 MHz Tektronix Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, Arbitrary Function generator, Microprocessor kits, Digital Trainers, Hall effect set-up, 10" Spectrometers, Diode and Semiconductor Lasers, and numerous set-ups for study of single/double slit diffraction experiment, Planck's Constant, RC circuits, Anderson Bridge, Phase shift Oscillator, BJT and UJT characteristics etc to name a few. The department has also a K-yan, which provides a one stop solution to all multimedia requirements.
Scope of the subject
A graduate in Physics has large number of exciting opportunities. They can do post graduation in Physics or Electronics from University of Delhi, JNU, IITs, IISERs etc. After B.Sc one can also join an M.B.A. or an M.C.A course. A Physics graduate also finds many exciting opportunities in the private sector, which can be sought through the placement cell of the college, which is visited by large number of companies every year. Those desirous to pursue academics can go for Ph.D after post graduation and take NET (national Eligibility Test for Lecturership) exam conducted by UGC/CSIR to become a lecturer/Assistant Professor.
Faculty
The Faculty of the Department leads the university community vis-a -vis scholarship and dedication towards creative pursuits and pioneering pedagogy to make teaching-learning of Physics an enjoyable experience. The spirit of innovation is kept alive by the faculty's engagement in research that includes frontier areas of theoretical and experimental Physics.
