Principal Desk

....Students are taught not just facts, they are exposed to attitudes and approaches that teach them to think independently. The effort is to nurture them as 'autonomous learners'....

As you step into the 'adult' world of higher education, you come in with aspirations and dreams - we at Acharya Narendra Dev College, strive to help make these dreams come true.
Acharya Narendra Dev College, though a relatively young college, has made a name for itself due to the young and committed teachers and the hard work they put in. We believe what makes an individual is what they learn 'beyond the classroom' - if only syllabi based teaching decided what a person knows then all students in a class should be identical! We are proud of our teachers - three of them were felicitated by APJ Abdul Kalam on the occassion of Teachers' day in 2009. This year one teacher from our college won the 'Best teacher' award of the Government of NCT of Delhi!!
We give opportunities for students to experiment and explore the world of science and the 'work world', through research projects and through summer training. We have excellent teaching and state-of-the-art laboratories - both for the formal syllabus and for projects, and a culture of work that takes you beyond the formal. This approach has shown results - one of our students is the only 'Young Scientist' awardee (2009) in the University of Delhi - an award of Rs 3 Lakhs given for research by the Delhi Council for Science and Technology, Government of NCT of Delhi. Another got selected to be a member of the Youth delegation to the Climate Conference at Copenhagen. Yet another was a delegate at the 'SAARC Youth Summit' at islamabad in 2010. The group of four who were felicitated for their contribution to the 'Open Source Drug Design' project of CSIR made us proud - they helped unravel the genome of TB and were gifted a laptop each!! We are a college that believes in FOSS, Linux and 'Open Educational Resources' - we believe in collaborative learning and sharing of knowledge - knowledge only grows with sharing!! We promote development of econtent using multiple media in an open space with open access. We have excellent computer and internet facilities - with free access to students. If you have dreams and you are willing to work to achieve them, if you love experimentation, if you are looking for an 'open culture', if you think that there is a world beyond the classroom - if you love debates, quizzes, music, dance, cricket, football, if you are looking for exposure to research, etc. and you also believe that each one of us has a social responsibility, then Acharya Narendra Dev is the college for you. I welcome you into our family and hope that your stay in our college will enrich your lives and make them meaningful. Dr. Savithri Singh Principal
